ABOUT PASSION PLAY
something about ritual, mixed with the unpredictability of street theatre has me returning to shoot over and over again. Ive been following the Passion Play procession as it winds its way thru the two small southern california towns of Santa Paula and the Colonia in Oxnard...a core group of performers in both towns attempt to make real jesus's last days on earth...speaking of earth I have witnessed the physical changes of the landscape as realestate speculators/developers have transformed once prime agricultural areas into new exclusive gated communities.. I mean even the Churches own property has physically expanded and the area once reserved for the crucifixion has disappeared. the only space left for the actual crucifixion is the parking lot..
